Help Me Reach My Goal!
The last three years we have attenede and successfuly fundraised money for the allergy walk! We had such a great time, met familes with food allergies we decided to accept the challenge to participate in the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network?s (FAAN?s) Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure. The event will raise funds to find a cure for food allergy and to educate others. FAAN?s mission is to raise public awareness, to provide advocacy and education, and to advance research on behalf of all those affected by food allergies and anaphylaxis.
Our family created "Team Brendon's Buddies" last year in hopes to raise $1000.00. We were stunned our team was able to raise $3000.00!! Our goal is to raise at least that same amount this year if not more!! We realize this has been a tough year, but any amout you can donate will help us to raise money toward a cure.
Please support our fundraising efforts with a donation. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of the estimated 12 million Americans with food allergies and their families. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause; you can make your secure credit card donation by selecting the Support Me button.
Any amount, large or small, helps me reach my fundraising goal. I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
Sincerely,
Christi Minister

Brendon's story
As many of you know we found out Brendon suffered from food allergies when he was 7 months old. His original food allergy reaction was to Dairy/Milk products. As he grew and his allergies became worse we had him tested, and found he had anaphylaxis food allergies to Peanut, Milk, Pork and Cashew. Each year we visit the allergist hoping to hear he is outgrowing his allergies. He is now reaching the age where the likelihood of him outgrowing his allergies is slim. We are hoping to hear of a cure or a medication to keep an accidental interaction with a food allergen from become deadly. Right now our only defense is avoiding foods, his EPI Pin and Benadryl. There are medications being studied to be used on a daily basis like an outdoor allergen pill to keep him from a deadly reaction if he were to accidentally consume an allergen. We need more money to keep this program working and research other avenues to cure food allergies.
This year we sent Brendon to a successful year in second grade at a new school. As a parent of a child with food allergies sending our child to a friends home, school or camp , is filled with fear. Fortunately we have not had to use his EPI pen at school. Nock on wood we have not had to use it for 3 years now, thanks to friends and family focusing on his allergies and staying educated! Our family has relied on FAAN to help us through our battle with Brendon's allergies. With out their information, support and education our family would be lost. Please help support these educational programs along with the medical research.
We are continually asked "will he out grow this?" We have him tested twice a year and so far he shows no signs of outgrowing his allergies. Though the future looks promising with money raised for research toward a cure. Until there is a cure education is the key!!.
2010 update
"Will he out grow this" for once we can say YES!! As we continue to test his allergies this year we won one food allergy battle! Brendon can now eat PORK!! He has enjoyed his dad's home made ribs and pulled pork. The most exciting part for him was to go to Burger King and order and entire meal for the first time!! They recently included "ribs" to thier menu! Such a small step but a huge moment in his life!!
Though he can eat beef, i feel that he was not use to the meat texture. This week he ate teraki marinated flank steak!! These small steps keep us encouraged!! One day he will eat anything on his plate without and worry thanks to your help!!
Thank you for your support!

JOIN TEAM BRENDON'S BUDDIES!
We are looking to have a FUN 2 mile walk!! Please Join "Brendon's Buddies" to help support him and other families who battle food allergies every day.
The walk is simple and focused on fun. This walk isn't a race, but an opportunity to bring awareness about food allergies to the community, while raising money for research and making new friends. Last year Brendon ran up to us and was excited to say " That boy is allergic to peanuts too!!" He was thrilled to be around kids his age with the same allergies and lifestyle.
Please join our team to help families like ours with food allergies raise money for education and a cure!!
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU WALKING WITH BRENDON!!
Sincerely,
Christi Minister
