I am participating in the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network?s (FAAN?s) Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure. The event will raise funds to find a cure for food allergy and to educate others.

FAAN?s mission is to raise public awareness, to provide advocacy and education, and to advance research on behalf of all those affected by food allergies and anaphylaxis.

My four year old son, John Dean, is severly allergic to Peanuts/Tree nuts. He was diagnosed soon after his very first birthday. 20 minutes after eating a granola bar that contained peanut flour; he was covered in hives.

John is severly allergic to PEANUTS. He doesnt even have to consume nuts to have a reaction. Just coming incontact with someone or a contaminated surface is all it takes. Unfortunately, the more reactions he has the less likely he will out grow this allergy. He was admitted twice to the hospital last year despite the preventative measures we have taken. Im sure all of you remember the infamous California incident!

My husband and I feel extremely helpless each time he has suffered a reaction. Every time he has a reaction it increases the severity of Johns' chances of having a life threating reaction such as: anaphalxsis, and even death. This is the reality my family faces each day.
