I am participating in the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network's (FAAN's) Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure. The event will raise funds to find a cure for food allergy and to educate others.
My son Justin has life threatening allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, sesame and soy. Since birth he's been an allergic kid suffering numerous reactions over the years. There are lots of things he can do but many things he can't and often he feels left out due to his food allergies. Something as simple as buying hot lunch at school, riding on a plane or taking a vacation involves a lot of planning and are things we don't often do.
If you know Justin, you know he's a happy kid with a positive outlook on life. He doesn't let his food allergies hold him back--but he's hopeful that one day he won't have to ask "mom, is this safe for me to eat?"
